The Medical Cannabis Commission of Maryland made a significant improvement to the application procedure for medical marijuana cards.

The duration and price of medicinal marijuana cards were changed, according to the medicinal Cannabis Commission of Maryland. A reform that lowers the cost of a medicinal marijuana card from $50 to $25 and lengthens its validity from three to six years was authorized by the state commission. 
According to Will Tilburg, executive director of the Maryland Medical Cannabis Commission, "the commission made the change because renewing a card can often be confusing for patients." Prices are now more in line with a $25 fee than a $50 fee since printing and processing cards are getting less expensive due to more effective administrative procedures.

We have a substantial senior patient base, and we frequently hear from them that the requirement to renew both certification and registration is unclear.

Therefore, we are taking this action to simplify the procedure and guarantee that the card price won't put an additional strain on the patient.

The state receives $12 million in fees each year from people who have medical marijuana cards. Nearly $1 million of the money raised goes towards the compassionate use fund, which enables low-income and veteran patients to access medical marijuana.

In Maryland, chronic pain is the primary factor in obtaining a medical marijuana certificate. Maryland has 159,000 patients who use medical marijuana; the state commission has noticed a surge of about 12,000 over the last six months. Furthermore, by the end of the year, an additional 20,000 patients are anticipated to enrol in the programme.
